Greatings from T2K Clan B)
Not sure if its just a setting or what is going on for sure.

I have been running .77 version of the 1FX mod for a few years now and wanting to update but have encounterd
the only way I can describe is a somewhat strange scoreboard issue.

These test servers were built with just the needed files for a SOF2 server and the 1fx mod

I have run these servers in both linux and Windows with same result.

What my issue is:
when any client connects to these servers the scoreboard doesn't seem to display names correctly.
It either has no names or serveral of the same name on one side of the scoreboard and no names on the other.

Odd when just one person is connected it seems to display the name correctly. I can post pictures if needed

Obviously there is serveral servers running this mod so I'm wondering what my problem is :-) lol

Thanks ATB

Did you update the start script / config file as well?

Startscript - add fs_game 1fx

Config:

If 1.00 - add line g_clientMod "RPM"
If 1.03 - add line g_clientMod "rocmod"

Might be wrong, but this might be the case.

HI,
I encountered same problem on my distant linux server but not in LAN test server under Windows.
This problem only affected bots and not real players.
Some bots had UnnamedPlayer name, others duplicated several time the same name.
To avoid this double trouble, I reduced the bots number to 15 instead of previous 40 in the bots.txt file and I assigned a single name for all bots (FS~Bot)

Thanks Yes fs_game 1fx mod  as the mod is working with no errors and all the files in the correct spot in the 1fx folder .. only problem so far is scoreboard display.

Interesting I did throw in a few bots for testing on my initial test.  So by default it comes with 3 bots easy enough to edit the names and see what happens

I was wondering about the bot's myself so I had another real player come into the server and I'm pretty sure same result.

I'll do some more testing to verify that the results are accurate.

Thanks for the info Vera.

This is a quick test with two real players and same problem persists.

I noticed as soon as another client connects that's when the scoreboard acts weird. Also spectator didn't display names correct. Only repeated the same name

Here is a screen shot for reference

Hi there!

This looks like a client/server mismatch. Can you check the following things?

  • What is g_clientMod set to in Config.cfg on your server? RPM, rocmod or none?
  • What is fs_game telling you in your client console, not server?
  • Are you using a separate installation for your server, i.e. clean files?

Kind regards,

BoeMan

Thanks so much for the reply Boeman.

I'll check everything you've mentioned.  Looks to be a simple solution :)

Server files should be clean. I copied from the game CD I bought many years ago and have been creating servers with them for many years.

Only strange thing is the .77 mod works fine.

So interesting I went inside the Config.cfg file and notices g_clientMod was set to none as I only edited settings in order to test the server

I went ahead and changed it to RPM and the scoreboard displayed correctly! :D I'd was hoping this was a simple solution.

I'll now test what happens when a player enters with no clientside mod installed B)

//////////////////////////////// TESTING COMPLETED ///////////////////////////////////

I removed all mods out of my SOF2 and fired it up and interesting even without mods scoreboard works correctly

One last question :P

I get this from my experience installing the mod.

So wouldn't it be a good idea to change g_clientMod value from none to RPM inside Config.cfg?  Or whatever mod is most popular vs None.

Glad to hear that it worked! Enjoy using 1fx. Mod!

It's a manual tweak at the moment because we one day wish to support more than one client side. Setting the default to none forces the server owner to see what choices are available. It also makes behavior across SoF2 versions more consistent (Gold doesn't have RPM but ROCmod, Demo has no client side at all, so the choices differ per SoF2 version we build 1fx. Mod for).

I agree however that this isn't obvious at all, and for that I will update the "Getting started" page on the website to ensure server owners take a look at it.

Thanks for the feedback! :)
Kind regards,

BoeMan

OK that does make sense. Thanks for the detailed explanation :)

For sure an update to the getting started would have aided me

(hopefully).

Thanks again for the help Boeman. I'm currently running the newest nightly version now and it seems to fairly stable so far. I'll migrate it onto all T2K servers fairly quick.
