Server does not start when I add too many maps

Posted by empy on 14 December 2015 - 07:12 PM

Server does not start when I add too many maps. I get this message and I'll pm you the config.

/home/emp/sof2/h&s/1fx# ./Start\ Server.sh
Inconsistency detected by ld.so: dl-version.c: 224: _dl_check_map_versions: Assertion `needed != ((void*)0)' failed!

Thanks

Thanks for the PM, I received it.

What distro are you running (and what version of it? 32-bit or 64-bit)? In case I can't reproduce it on my local Debian workstation.

I get the following fatal error on startup:

********************
ERROR: Cvar_Update: src Work.pk3 italy_night.pk3 ghost_ships2.pk3 awp_jungle2.pk3 belfast_pp_winter-edition.pk3 max_zena.pk3 swimminpool.pk3 ^mporn_museum.pk3 rpmsounds.pk3 woverdose.pk3 mp_crazyxmas.pk3 ^)December.pk3 XmasJor_final.pk3 xmas_highwire2.pk3 mp_shop69.pk3 rats.pk3 toyz.pk3 mp_italy.pk3 UK_Pool.pk3 -BK-_Tetris.pk3 My_Home.pk3 length 316 exceeds MAX_CVAR_VALUE_STRING
********************

Do you perhaps run Ubuntu?

Anyway I have to think of a better solution for this problem, it seems the current limit (256 characters maximum) will be a problem for most servers in the future.

I run Debian 8 64bit.

Can you PM me the full output of starting the server?

root@Bravo:/home/emp/sof2/h&s/1fx# ./Start\ Server.sh
Inconsistency detected by ld.so: dl-version.c: 224: _dl_check_map_versions: Assertion `needed != ((void *)0)' failed!

This is what I get

Is this a VPS? A quick google search shows it's mostly related to the Nvidia binary blob, but if you run it on a VPS this would probably not be the case.

Yup a vps. You need a account on the vps to check it out for your self?

If you don't mind, yes please.

Ok I send you a pm.

I checked it out. You appear to be running Debian 8 with an old 2.6 kernel, so I assume you're hosting it on an OpenVZ VPS, where the guest kernel is shared with the host.

Anyway I don't have sudo rights, can you try to install lib32gcc1? It's a requirement for v1.00 servers, but might be able to help in your case as well.

I installed lib32gcc1

make life easier emperor
apt-get install sudo
adduser boeman sudo
hhhhh

Tried a local server on your box, in order to reproduce it. I just used your Config.cfg and I got this:

boe@emperor:~/1fx$ ./Start\ Server.sh
SOF2MP V1.02a linux-i386 Sep 24 2002

So that looks fine to me as well. What startup parameters are you using, or is it all default?

Just the default settings it works now I guess..

It also works for that specific h&s server?

changed severity to: 1 - Low
changed status to: Fixed Issue
changed fixed-in version to: 0.78t (Gold Preview)

I still don't know what caused the weird error, but it was likely on your end.

As for the CVAR_Update error, this is now fixed with the addition of the space delimited pk3 list directly downloadable from the server. This increases the character limit from 256 to 16384. Refer to the Gold topic for more information.

Thanks for reporting!
